Cory grew up in New Orleans, La. dreaming of playing college basketball. got his chance as a walk-on at George Mason University back in 1984, deciding to hit the books and leave the courts to his his varsity high school playing days. Cory finished his college studies at the University of Maryland earning a bachelors degree in Radio, Television and film in 1988. After a paid internshp program at CNN-Headline News Cory was hired as a videotape editor in the CNN Sports department. Cory broke into Sportscasting in 1993 as the weekend Sports anchor for KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, La. and quickly moved to CBS affiliate WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida, in 1994 before moving on to Charlotte, NC and ABC affiliate WSOC-TV. He then worked in Atlanta as the host for the college football and basketball recruiting show Countdown to Signing Day.
Recently Cory has been anchoring segments for CNN.COM and enjoys his time in the Atlanta area. Of all his interviews over the years, Cory's favorite interview has to be a tie between Shaquille O'Neal in his home in Orlando, (an interview that took him 10 months to lock-down) Bowling against 4-time heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield in his home in Atlanta and sitting down one-on-one with legendary basketball coach Pat Summit on the the University of Tennessee campus.
